A free written practice pattern
Make a mini crochet circle.
Practise single crochet, spiral rounds, and increases with this short HeartCrochet stitch exercise. Use US crochet terms, a yarn and matching hook you can work with comfortably, a removable stitch marker, and a tapestry needle.
Begin with a magic ring. Work continuously without joining or turning, moving a marker to the first stitch of each round. Here, sc means single crochet and inc means two single crochets in the next stitch.
| Round | Instructions | Total stitches |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 6 sc in the ring | 6 |
| 2 | Inc in each stitch | 12 |
| 3 | (1 sc, inc) 6 times | 18 |
| 4 | (2 sc, inc) 6 times | 24 |
| 5 | (3 sc, inc) 6 times | 30 |
| 6 | (4 sc, inc) 6 times | 36 |
After the last round, slip stitch into the next stitch, fasten off, and weave in the ends. The motif's size depends on yarn, hook, and tension. This is a stitch exercise rather than a size-specific product pattern. Keep the same stitch totals if you adjust where increases fall to soften the outline.
